The U.S. result uses the 2023 USDA map and 1991–2020 average annual extreme minimum winter temperature. Canada uses Natural Resources Canada's fourth-edition, seven-variable index for 1991–2020, not the USDA temperature-only system. Canadian and USDA zone labels are not interchangeable. Neither system guarantees that a plant will survive: soil, drainage, exposure, moisture, and microclimate also matter. Coverage is the United States and Canada; Mexico is not included.
